Services Tree Risk Assessment Level 3
A Level 3 tree risk assessment, also known as an advanced assessment, is the most comprehensive and detailed evaluation, conducted when a Level 2 assessment indicates a high risk. It uses specialized equipment and techniques to thoroughly inspect specific parts of the tree, including internal decay, root systems, and overall structure. Assessments may include methods like resistance drilling, sonic tomography, aerial inspections, or root excavation.
Root and soil analysis
Excavating around roots or soil analysis helps to identify problems with the root system.
Specialized tools
Arborists use basic tools like mallet, metal rods, and more sophisticated devises like resistographs, sonic tomography devices, or air spades.
Internal decay testing
Resistance drilling measures wood density to identify internal decay, while sonic tomography uses sound waves to map the condition of the tree's interior.
Detailed Reporting
The arborist provides a comprehensive report that includes all observations, testing results, pictures, and specific recommendations for mitigating identified risks (e.g., pruning, cabling/bracing, or removal).
Aerial tree inspection
Aerial tree inspection employs techniques such as tree climbing or drone imaging to evaluate parts of the tree not visible from the ground, including the upper canopy, limbs, and trunk.
